1. Please give us a quick introduction of yourself.

Hello, I am Jason who is in sales for various customers including game companies. I started my career as a graphic designer for game development around 1999, then moved on to planning, programming, and management. After all those years in game development, it has only been a little over 3 years for me to work in marketing. So I have limited experience for my age. Naturally, I’m more used to game development-related terms than those of marketing and AD-Tech. As I am an active Facebook user, people around me give me various comments. They are mostly positive, but some of them are the opposite. For example, “You need to cut down on drinking. Isn’t your wife nagging for that?” Taking this opportunity, I would like to reiterate that I love my wife very much and spend quality time with my only daughter very often.

2. What brings you to Buzzvil?

At my previous job called Patmouse, I got a glimpse of the nature of operation division of game companies. I was so naive as to think that work at the operation division was so easy and they get all the credit even after developers are the ones who had worked day and night. But working there was an eye-opening experience. I came to realize the operation division could change the way of game, which in turn can produce various results.   I was feeling some needs for more fundamental data and related parts, and Peter who is known for being cute told me about a number of strengths of his company and that was when I decided to join. Let me tell you some factors I took into account when I joined the company. - Environment: where I am able to be more active when pursing sales career by getting in touch with many businesses (especially game companies) - Individual capabilities: where I am able to develop my expertise in marketing through data and to expand the horizon. - Coworkers: where I am able to learn from them and respect each other. - Potential for growth: where I can achieve growth for products in both vertical and horizontal ways when undertaking various projects. Those were the things I considered important and Buzzvil is the most suitable for the criteria so I joined Buzzvil. Since then, I have been quite content with my decision and work life in Buzzvil.

3. What is your role at Buzzvil?

I serve as a senior sales manager in a sales team focusing on sales for the game industry. Since I have worked in the industry I have learned how it works. That makes me want to understand the industry and people working there better. So it’s no wonder I have been in sales. Aside from game companies, I deal with financial, fashion, news, retail, interior businesses. Even though my cup of tea is still sales for the game industry but I am planning to broaden my horizon toward diverse industries from the second half of the year.

4. How does it feel to work at a startup? or advertising industry?

Buzzvil has aspects that you can not find in a typical startup. It has strengths such as various internal management system, decision-making process, investment in operation and growth, free intra, inter networks. All the aspects such as an onboarding system from the day one, various daily tools for efficient work, cooperation between teams, definitive roles at work, the visions, and culture make me realize that Buzzvil has the most well-established frame I have experienced so far. Of course I don’t think this kind of environment was achieved overnight. I sometimes talk with John about the previous Buzzvil. I discovered many things happened that are very heart-breaking. I feel that Buzzvil’s culture has been established around these valuable experiences which influence the people working here. Plus, working in the ad industry makes my heart race. Especially, I am quite content with sales manager. I am extremely social. So just being in a meeting makes me feel happy. It feels rewarding when I suggest solutions customized for KPI of the customers, put them into action, and produce desired results. Even though I feel lonely sometimes when encountering some challenges coming from frequent work outside, happiness and values are much greater than difficulties, so job satisfaction is quite high.

5. Is there something that you can say “this is the best part being Buzzvilians”?

It is hard to pick one because there are a lot of them. You can experience the well-balanced environment mixed with professionalism, cooperation, respect, and training in Buzzvil. I am pretty sure that you have already felt a great affection I have for Buzzvil from my previous comments. Among them, I would pick trust and respect the best. As for work, the process of achieving personal goals may not be easy, but trustful colleagues help me through the difficulties. On top of that, one of the biggest draw is that I can learn various things from people who are excellent at work. Especially, I learned a great deal from John who are experienced in starting a new business. He is so open-minded that I get to learn valuable information, business know-hows, challenges and so on. (These days, I work a lot outside, and John was so busy with meetings, so we haven’t done much catching up lately, which is a sadness. ) Aside from John, other coworkers in Buzzvil are also competent enough to run their own business. I am learning fresh ideas, various information, know-hows and knowledge on life from them. Plus, a unique sense of humor I picked up there is keeping me going.

6. Do you have a personal goal or dream? If so, how does your experience at Buzzvil help you?

Financially my goal is to become a building owner which is considered better than God in Korea.(I want to have a new 5 story-building measuring over 660m2 in Seoul or Kyoung-Gi province. It might be difficult to reach the goal in the near future, but I want to give my family more financial freedom. Of course my first priority is to spend quality time with my family. So I try to spend time with them as much time as possible. My life-long goal is to meet many people and get to know them better while enjoying life as it is. It feels good to keep up with current affairs and connect dots with people around me. In the process, I sometimes come up with good ideas out of nowhere that lead me to consider starting a business. The older I get, the more curious I have become. So I am planning to learn a few things one at a time. I have always dreamed of riding a muscle bike. In order to do that, I need to get a high-level driver’s license. Recently, I have started picking up golf, so I want to get better at it so that I can enjoy playing with my buddies. Besides, I am planning on taking life-long hobbies such as guitar or piano. If possible, I want to do them with my family. I keep getting motivated from Buzzvilians. They are passionate about both their work and hobbies. They make me motivated. The memory of being with them influences me in a positive way. I think that is the most significant help I get here.
